With Day 2 of the Connie Mack State Baseball Tournament officially in the books, the field of twelve teams has been dwindled down to eight fighting for a chance to make it to the weekend. Our local teams once again saw a mixed set of results on the field with the Enid Plainsmen suffering their first loss in pool play and the Enid Majors cruising to their first victory. Here are the results from Day 2:
Sandlot Ballard | 2 | to | 0 | Oklahoma Expos |
Shockers Red | 7 | to | 1 | Premier Titans |
Sandlot Painter | 8 | to | 0 | Edmond Stars |
Woodward Travelers | 10 | to | 0 | Shawnee Phillies |
MVP-Seng | 8 | to | 0 | Enid Plainsmen |
Enid Majors | 10 | to | 1 | Shockers Black |
Some local notes:
- Despite the loss yesterday, the Enid Plainsmen can still advance with a win over the Oklahoma Expos on Friday
- Many scenarios exist for the Enid Majors to advance to the quarterfinals, but they ALL require a win over the Woodward Travelers on Friday. Woodward bested the Majors 8-2 on Monday night earlier this week
- Majors highlight on Day 2: Garrett DeHaas = 5 IP, 3 hits, 1 run, 1 walk, 9 K’s
