In what has already been an eventful offseason for the Oklahoma City Thunder, more news came across the pipeline yesterday as Thunder fans learned that newly acquired player Danilo Gallinari was hospitalized over the weekend with appendicitis. Gallinari, who is in his native Italy training with Team Italy for the FIBA World Cup, underwent an appendectomy in Verona on Sunday morning after experiencing immense pain on Saturday evening. The Italian Basketball Federation announced on Sunday that Gallinari is resting comfortably and will not resume basketball activities until August 12th, when he rejoins Team Italy in Rome for additional training.

Gallinari was recently acquired by the Oklahoma City Thunder in a trade that sent former OKC Star, Paul George, to the Los Angeles Clippers. The Italian native is coming off of his most productive season as an NBA professional, scoring nearly 20 points per game along with 6 rebounds per contest and shooting about 47% from the field. Gallinari is not expected to miss any time for the Thunder when the NBA offseason begins in the coming weeks.
