Shocking news coming from Northern Oklahoma College today.
Longtime Northern Oklahoma College Lady Jets head basketball coach Scott Morris has elected to leave NOC. Morris has coached at NOC for the last 19 years.
Morris is not done coaching by any means, he will continue his coaching career at Stillwater High School. He will be coaching the varsity boys team.
During his 19 years at NOC, Morris racked up 456 wins and made five trips to the NJCAA National Tournament.
“Scott (Morris) built a strong program and created a winning tradition for the Jets,” said NOC President Dr. Cheryl Evans. “I always appreciated how he sought out Oklahoma talent and educated his players about life on and off the court. I wish him the best in his new job.”
Athletic Director Jeremy Hise reiterated Evans’ thoughts.
“Coach Morris has done a tremendous job at Northern Oklahoma College,” Hise said. “He has built this program from the ground up. His program represents everything we value at Northern.”
“His teams have demonstrated academic excellence (4-time academic national champs) and athletic excellence (five national tournament appearances and one final four),” Hise added. “He has also led our program to several conference championships and coached numerous All-Americans. As great of a coach as he is, he is an even better person. We will miss him and wish him nothing but success in his future endeavors.”

He coached 12 NJCAA All-Americans and over fifty academic All-Americans at NOC Enid.
Morris is a graduate of Tonkawa High School. He played basketball for two years under Mick Weiberg at Northern Oklahoma College Tonkawa and two years at USAO in Chickasha, Oklahoma.
His coaching began in 1993 as an assistant to Mick Weiberg at Northern for two years. After coaching as a head coach at Drumright and Woodland High Schools for three years he returned to the college ranks in 1998 at Oklahoma Christian University under Dan Hays where he served as a graduate assistant for two years.
In 2000 Morris earned his Master of Education degree from the University of Central Oklahoma and returned to Tonkawa as the women’s assistant to Greg Krause. A year later, in 2001, he took over as the head coach for Northern Enid’s inaugural basketball campaign.
