(Oklahoma City, OK) Videoconferencing is the latest addition to courtrooms in the state of Oklahoma after the passing of House Bill 3756. The bill, authored by Rep. Nicole Miller from Edmond, was signed by Governor Kevin Stitt issuing videoconferencing technology in civil or criminal proceedings, except in jury trials or a trial before a judge.

“The COVID-19 pandemic has really highlighted the flexibility and usefulness offered by videoconferencing,” Miller said. “The utilization of videoconferencing in district courts has the potential to save our criminal justice system both time and money, as well as maintaining public safety. ”

The new law will take effect on November 1st.
