Crash in Major County Sends One to the Hospital

(Major Co, OK) An accident involving a semi-trailer and pickup truck in West Major County on May 27th have sent two to the hospital. The driver of the semi, Jay Vernon Mahan of Harrah was driving a 2017 International truck south on U.S. 281 while Jesse Nelson of Enid was heading east on U.S. 412 in his Dodge pickup.

According to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol, Mahan was stopped at the 281/412 intersection but failed to yield to Nelson’s truck. After striking Nelson, both vehicles came to a rest just off of U.S. 412.

Nelson is in OU Medical Center in Oklahoma City currently in stable condition.

The OHP states both drivers were wearing seat belts and not under the influence of any substances.
