(Stillwater, OK) OSU Professor Davis Schrader was arrested in Pawnee County on Wednesday, May 27th after messaging underage teenagers.

A sting had been setup by undercover deputies on the gay dating app Grindr, where they messaged Schrader that they were 17-years-old. According to an affidavit, when informed that the undercover officer was 17, Schrader replied with, “That’s legal.”

After allegedly planning a meeting at his campus office, Schrader was arrested by deputies where he was charged with solicitation of a minor.

When Schrader stated, “That’s legal,” he was referring to the law in Oklahoma where the age of consent is 16-years-old or higher. Solicitation of a minor is illegal in the state of Oklahoma when the minor is under the age of 18.

“If he did meet up with this minor, he could argue that what he did after he met up was not illegal, but the actual solicitation would still be illegal,” said Pawnee County Asst. District Attorney Jeff Jones.
