Enid City Commission Meets Tonight

(Enid, OK) Tuesday’s city commissioners meeting will have a full agenda as City Manager Jerald Gilbert recommends that the city of Enid proceed to phase three of the COVID-19 reopening plan. This is one of several options in front of the board as they weigh to move to phase two as planned or adopt Governor Stitt’s Open Up and Recover Safety Plan. Phase 2 was set to automatically take place on June 1st, with phase 3 starting the 1st of July.

Jerald Gilbert has stated his support for going through with a phase 3 that is more reminiscent of the Open UP and Recover Safety Plan which will begin its phase 3 approach on Monday, June 8th. This will include unrestricted staffing for businesses, as well as senior citizen facilities to open for visitation with cleaning and testing protocols still in effect.

Phase 3 is set to start if no more than 10% of COVID-19 tested individuals have tested positive and no more than five consecutive days see an increase in positive tests.

Commissioners will also be looking in to the deal that will bring The District in to Enid, including a new movie theater and trampoline park. The deal, if approved, would include a $3.6 million sales tax rebate set to be paid over 15 years. A donation of 7.5 acres would also be included.

Cost of the total project is $14.5 million.s the Enid Public Transportation Authority, they will approve claims totaling $15,367.27.
