(Enid, OK) As initially reported by the Enid News and Eagle, a protest of citizens supporting Black Lives Matter was held at the Garfield County Courthouse from noon until one. A couple dozen of people gathered at the courthouse steps with signs while chanting “I can’t breathe”.

Protesters were one of many groups across the country in response to the killing of George Floyd, who was pinned down by a former Minneapolis police officer.

Despite the heat, the protest lasted an hour and a half with cars following and honking as the protesters went along their route starting at Champlin Swimming Pool, up and down Washington and around the Square, making stops at the Garfield County Court House and police department.

Another protest is planned for noon Sunday at at the Martin Luther King Jr. memorial at the city administration building, 401 W. Garriott.
