The Coronavirus has hit close to home at Douglass High School. A Douglass football coach has tested positive for COVID-19, which forced Douglass to put their summer athletics program on hold, Oklahoma City Public Schools reported on Tuesday.

The student athletes at Douglass are currently only lifting weights and conditioning due to the school district still being in Phase One of its Summer Pride program. Phase 2 of the program is expected to begin this Monday.

Here is what a district spokeswoman said in a news release:

“Per CDC guidelines and in an abundance of caution, we have closed the Douglass summer program for 14 days and are recommending that all football coaches and athletes self-quarantine, further, the athletic facility will be thoroughly disinfected and cleaned.”

“The district is working closely with public health officials to address the situation.”
