Two Earthquakes Registered in Northwest Oklahoma on Monday

(Jefferson, OK) Grant County experienced an earthquake Monday afternoon registering 2.9 on the Richter scale. The quake initially recorded as a 3.0 magnitude occurred at 2:57 pm according to the U.S. Geological Survey. The tremor measured 3.1 miles deep.

A second earthquake was recorded in Kay County at 4:47 pm registering 4.0 on the Richter scale. The USGS officially declared it to be a 3.7. The second quake occurred 5.3 miles west-southwest of Braman.

These have followed a magnitude 4.2 earthquake shook northern Oklahoma at 10:15 p.m. this past Saturday.
