After an incredible three-year run as the Okarche girls basketball head coach, Kelli Jennings has received an offer that she can’t even turn down. Jennings has elected to lead the NOC Enid Lady Jets as their new head basketball coach.

Jennings will only be the second girls basketball coach in NOC Enid history. Scott Morris, who Jennings is succeeding, was with NOC Enid as their head coach for the last 19 years. Morris elected to head to Stillwater high school to coach the boys team. Morris went 460-154 at NOC Enid, making the NJCAA national tournament five times. It’s safe to say, Morris will always be remembered for what he accomplished at NOC

Jennings is ready for this opportunity after what she accomplished at Okarche. But it’s an obvious observation that she has some big shoes to fill.

Jennings spoke on how she believes NOC Enid is one of the best JUCO’s in the state of Oklahoma.

Jennings is one of the better coaches in the area. She received votes for the CTB Sports Radio Coach of the Year Award. During Jennings’ time at Okarche high school she took her teams to a 78-17 record and made two semifinal appearances in the Class A state tournament.

Continuing the big news, NOC Enid Athletic Director Jeremy Hise is stepping down as NOC’s athletic director, a position he has held since 2013, to return to the dugout. It seems the final move Hise will make at NOC Enid will be the hiring of Kelli Jennings. And that seems like a good one to walk away on too.

Hise is stepping down to join new Enid Pacers softball coach Chris Jensen’s staff this coming season as an assistant coach for the Enid Pacers. He will be joining new Enid Pacers softball coach Chris Jensen’s staff this season as an assistant coach for the Pacers.

Talk about high recognition. Hise said Jennings was the school’s top choice.
