(Enid, OK) After a storm left the Lady Liberty statue damaged and left off of its pedestal in 2014, a local Eagle Scout project is attempting to restore the statue to return it to its original location in Downtown Enid.

The Boy Scouts of America gifted the replica of the Statue of Liberty to the community in 1950 and during the 2014 storm, the statue had endured cracks & splits primarily in arms and the torch.

Attempts have been made in the past to get the statue back to the Downtown Square, but a lack of people skilled in working with soft copper and to put up the cost to repair the statue.

Jaden Jenkins, a candidate for Eagle Scout with Cimarron Council BSA, has taken the lead on the project, by making the plan to save the statue.

Jenkins is collecting donations to fund the restoration project through a GoFundMe campaign at https://www.gofundme.com/f/strengthening-the-arm-of-liberty and donations are being taken at the Cimarron Council office, 317 North Grand, Enid, OK 73701.
