The Baltimore Ravens make me want to slam my head into a wall. My perspective on their offense has been clouded by an incredible 2019. The “secret” to stopping Lamar Jackson and the Ravens isn’t even hidden anymore. Make him throw. Baltimore just doesn’t have playmakers that get open at will when facing heavy coverage. Rush as little as possible to the passer, have underneath coverage with eyes on the backfield, and one of two things will happen: 1. Lamar will give up and rush the ball. He’ll break maybe three out of ten of these rushes for a good gain, but the rest can be mitigated to minor gains/sacks. 2. Lamar will be forced to throw into a tight window. He doesn’t necessarily miss these throws, but his receivers don’t come down with highly contested coverage.

Am I overreacting to a game against the greatest football coach of all-time in the middle of a monsoon? Possibly, but this was the first game we saw this year where the Ravens did not beat a team they should have. That same Patriots defense gave up 27 points to Joe Flacco and the Jets just last week. Not to mention a Patriots wide receiver threw a touchdown, which never bodes well for Baltimore.

Apart from the Steelers, Chiefs, and Buccaneers, the rest of the NFL is truly up in the air. We have teams like Miami and the Rams making some noise. Hell, the Dolphins are in position to win their division! It will be interesting to see how this Saints team does with Jameis Winston under center.

*incoming sizzling take of the year that will certainly make me either look like a genius or a moron come December*

The Saints are going to be better off with Jameis Winston. They’re going to give Drew Brees the Tony Romo treatment after seeing their offense click in the games Winston starts to close the season. I think Winston has gotten what he wanted out of this contract, so far. He sat for half a season and learned behind one of the greatest. Now he can use what he has learned in addition to his ability to stretch the field vertically to stimulate an offense that has been held back by Drew Brees’s lack of an arm.

The Jameis Winston era has begun in the Big Easy.
