(Enid, OK) Chisholm middle and high school students move to distance learning on Monday for the final week of fall classes before the Christmas break, due to the number of staff and students testing positive or being quarantining due to COVID-19.

Students from Chisholm Middle School and Chisholm High School will return to in-person classes on January 5th, which will be the first day of the spring semester, according to Superintendent Chad Broughton in an announcement on Friday.

Five teachers went into quarantine on Friday. The quarantines led to staff shortages that required the two schools closing.

Two more high school students tested positive on Friday, along with one high school student and one elementary student reportedly in positive-case isolation. Sixteen high school students and one middle school student, with a middle school staff member, were reported to be in close-contact quarantine on Friday.

The elementary students will have in-person instruction next week.

All middle and high school activities during the week will be canceled, including the Lady Longhorns game against Glenpool on Friday at a basketball tournament in Woodward. However, the Longhorns games will continue through the tournament. Next week’s games against Blackwell and Tonkawa have been postponed.
