(Enid, OK) The Oklahoma State Department of Health reported 62 new COVID-19 deaths on Wednesday, a record number of single-day deaths since the pandemic began.
53 of the 62 deaths reported were of the 65 and older age range, including seven women and three men in Tulsa County, four women and two men in Kay County, three women and two men in Bryan County, two Creek County women, two Grady County men, two women and five men in Comanche County, one Custer County man, one Hughes County woman, one Jefferson County man, one Latimer County man, one Le Flore County woman, one woman and one man in Logan County, one Muskogee County woman, one Mayes County man, one Pottawatomie County man, two McCurtain County women, one Murray County man, one Payne County man, one Canadian County man, one woman and one man in Sequoyah County, one Rogers County man, one Stephens County man and two Wagoner County men.
The other 9 deaths reported were four were in the 50-64 age group included two Tulsa County men, one Oklahoma County and one Nowata County man. Three were in the 36-49 age group including one Washington County woman, one Oklahoma County man and one Tulsa County man. Two deaths were in the 18-35 age group as two men from Bryan and Jackson counties were reported.
None of the deaths were in Northwest Oklahoma.
The state saw 3,305 new cases Wednesday. Garfield County COVID-19 cases increased by 25 on Wednesday for an overall total of 5,658 cases, with 374 active in the county.
County case increases throughout Northwest Oklahoma included 34 in Woodward, 25 in Garfield, 14 in Noble, eight in Blaine, six in Major, five in Woods, two in Kingfisher, two in Alfalfa, and one in Grant County.
