OG&E Begins Blackouts Statewide, Enid Among Cities Affected

(Enid, OK) OG&E have begun its rolling blackouts, across the state, to reduce demand on their systems.

Southwest Power Pool delivered the message for the service interruptions with Enid, Woodward and Hennessey are among the cities and towns that will be affected. Interruptions could last one or two hours and the customers do not need to report the outages.

According to the OG&E Facebook, Midwest City, Sapulpa, El Reno, Del City, Choctaw, Bethany, Warr Acres, Oklahoma City, Muskogee, Tishomingo, Norman, Edmond, Pauls Valley, Glenpool, Yukon, Ardmore, Kingston, Guthrie and Fort Smith, Ark. are the other cities involved in the blackouts.

According to OG&E, the SPP alerts are due to several factors being affected by the extreme cold weather forecasted including high electricity use across the entire SPP system and limited wind power and the high demand of natural gas.

OG&E has given tips to costumers on how to conserve energy at this time:

• Set thermostats lower than usual (68 degrees), if health permits

• Avoid using major electric appliances

• Turn off lights and appliances that you do not need or are not using
