Aline Resident Passes Away From Injuries in Accident on Feb. 16th

(Enid, OK) Update: Earline Shelite passed away Monday evening at the OU Medical Center in Oklahoma City after injuries sustained to the head and trunk injuries after the accident, according to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol.

Original Article: A single-vehicle accident on U.S. 412, west of Enid, caused two Aline residents to be sent to local hospitals after sustaining injuries on Tuesday Feb. 16th.

Larry Eugene Shelite, 83, and Earline Shelite, 85, were the two residents injured in the single-vehicle accident, according to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol report.

Larry Shelite was treated at St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center and released after treatment. Earline was admitted in critical condition with injuries to the head and torso.

According to the report from the Oklahoma Highway Patrol, The accident occurred at 12:41 p.m. on U.S. 412 as Larry Shelite was driving a 2002 GMC 1500 when the truck went off the road into the center median. Shelite was driving one-tenth of a mile in the median when the truck went down an embankment and hit a tree on the driver’s side.

Seat belts were not in use, and the highway was listed as dry. The cause of the accident is listed as a “possible medical condition” according to the report.
