Major County Sees Wildfire Tuesday Evening, No Injuries Reported

(Enid, OK) Firefighters from area fire departments came together to withstand a large wildfire Tuesday night in Major County.

The fire burned through 1,800 acres as of Tuesday evening, according to Brandon Case, the Major County Emergency Management director.

The fire burned grass and timber, southeast of Cleo Springs and west of Ringwood. Heavy smoke from the fire could be seen from Enid. Some structures had been damaged and no injuries were reported.

All Major County fire departments were involved in putting out the fire, with assistance from task forces in Blaine, Alfalfa and Woods counties.

Fairmont and Breckinridge firefighters fought a smaller fire at Market and 150th east of Enid that same evening, where 25 acres were burned.
