(Enid, OK) An Enid man was found dead Saturday morning after a fire in a hotel room.
48-year-old William Leroy Gainer Sr. and his dog were found in the bathroom inside of a room at the Enid Inn (located at 2901 S. Van Buren).
Fire and police personnel responded to the fire at 9:17 a.m. on April 3rd.
Fire personnel noticed smoke coming from a lower floor window on the south side of the inn and entered the room through a window and extinguished the fire.
The fire was likely an accident caused by a cigarette or smoking materials coming from the bed area, according to the EFD.
The remains of a smoke alarm were found inside the room.
The investigation is ongoing and an official cause of death has not been determined.
