(Enid, OK) After a recommendation from superintendent Darrell Floyd, Enid Public Schools became the last school district, in Northwest Oklahoma, eliminate the mask requirement on campuses after a meeting Monday night.

The EPS Board of Education decided in a 4-2 vote to make masks optional in all district buildings for the remainder of the school year.

Masks have been required for students and staff as Garfield County remains above 1.43 daily new cases per 100,000 population on a seven-day average, as reported by the Oklahoma State Department of Health.

As of April 12th, Garfield County was reported at 5.8 daily new cases on the seven-day average.

Masks still will be required for those visiting Enid school campuses, but optional for EPS students competing in the State Choir Contest, which runs through Friday, and the Tri-State Music Festival, from April 28-30th.

Masks will also be optional during summer school, which will be every weekday during June and will operate out of almost all campuses.
