At Oakwood Christian church in Enid, the special needs prom for all ages “Ignite The Night” went off without a hitch. Several prominent community members were in attendance like Mayor George Pankonin, city council members, and Police Chief Bryan Skaggs. Pankonin had personal involvement with the event as his son has learning-developmental disabilities.

Pankonin thought it was great for the special needs community to be able to enjoy the event, especially with previous events like the Special Olympics, and previous “Ignite The Night” proms being moved online due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

Several members of the Enid Police Department were at the prom including Police Chief Bryan Skaggs. The favorite part of the prom for Skaggs was the people and the smiles it brought to people.  The prom had several fun activities for the guests, like a live Deejay playing music, dancing, karaoke, and even a limo ride.

People were dressed in formal prom attire or costumes. Some dressed up as stormtroopers, Yoda, and even a minion. Overall it was a fun night for a special needs community and a chance to let their hair down.
