Oklahoma considers ending daylight savings time Permanently

A bill passed through the Oklahoma House of Representatives that would end Daylight savings time in Oklahoma is passed by the State Senate.

This is the opposite of a Bill sponsored by U.S Senator Marco Rubio R-Florida that would make Daylight Savings time permanent and end Standard time.

The argument against making daylight savings time permanent is that in the winter months kids would be forced to go to school and wait for school buses in the dark, and adults would have to drive to work in the dark in the winter.

Oklahoma’s House of Representatives is on the other side of the issue from the United States Senate since the House wants to end daylight savings time altogether.

Oklahoma Representative  Kevin West, R-Moore said “people have operated for thousands of years using nature’s clock – the sun. It’s only been in the last 100 years or so that man has experimented with manipulating sunlight hours through Daylight Saving Time”.

The Oklahoma House Bill will go to the Senate for consideration where Sen. Marty Quinn, R-Claremore, is the author.
