Yesterday Enid Police announced that they had arrested a 19-year-old Enid man on charges of molestation and 3 counts of manufacturing child pornography. The man’s name is Zayne Anthony Nafus and after being arrested, detectives found illicit photos of a 4-year-old girl on Nafus’s phone.
Nafus admitted to molesting the girl to detectives . If convicted this would not be Nafus’s 1st time being charged for molestation. In 2018 Nafus was charged with 1 count of lewd molestation as a youthful offender, Nafus was 16 at the time. Then in 2020 Nafus received a 25-year deferred sentence.
A deferred sentence is when an agreement is stuck as a part of a plea deal that defers punishment to a later date if the person charged meets a set of conditions, like committing no further crimes, passing drug tests, and performing community service, a judge can dismiss the charge.
If convicted Nafus would be facing a 25-year sentence on top of additional and likely more severe sentencing for the charges listed above.
