Earlier today the Enid Police had announced that last week they had arrested 35-year-old man James Michael Gambrell on the complaint of soliciting sexual conduct from a minor. In reality, Gambrell was speaking to an Enid PD detective posing as a 14-year-old girl who was conducting a sting operation.

The operation started after a police report was filed by a woman who said that she found messages on her step-daughter’s phone from Gambrell. This woman then created a fake account and started messaging Gambrell. Conversations between Gambrell and the fake account often had a sexual nature, and when the fake account told Gambrell that she was 14 and asked if that bothered Gambrell, Gambrell said it did not.

The woman then transferred the account to an Enid police detective Randy Wilson who continued to message Gambrell posing as a 14-year-old. Gambrell then messaged the account posing as a 14-year-old a message stating he would like to meet up for sex.

Gambrell then arranged to pick up who he thought was a 14-year-old at a business, Gambrell was instead arrested and booked into the Garfield County Detention Facility.
