Yesterday at 10:30 am a groundbreaking ceremony was held for Chisholm Trail Meats at the Garfield County Industrial park. Enid mayor George Pankonin spoke about the groundbreaking and how Chisholm Trail Meats got its start as a business saying “many prospective new business owners including Eldon were able to start their businesses in the incubator program located at the Autry Technology Center Campus”.

The incubator program gives new businesses a subsidized space to launch their new business at the Autry Technology Center, and it also gives them mentors to help with their journey. This is where Chisholm Trail Meats and T&C Meats got their start.

The Garfield County Industrial Park where the Chisholm Trail Meat’s meat processing center is being built is owned and managed by the Garfield County Industrial Authority. Garfield County Industrial Authority chair John Roberts spoke about the construction of the meat processing center saying ” I consider it homegrown, I consider it family owned and operated for the most part and very much near and dear to our hearts it’s agricultural Industry based”.

The owner of Chisholm Trail Meats Eldon Campbell also said, “During the pandemic, we really got tired of the phone calls of can you custom slaughter our beef?”. That helped lead to the idea to open a meat processing plant.

Also in attendance at the event were Oklahoma State Senator Roland Pederson and Enid Reginal Development Authority Executive Director Lisa Murkowski.
