During the 1984 tour, Bruce Springsteen chatted with Britain's The Old Grey Whistle Test and asked why, up until then, despite his legendary live act, he'd never issued a live album: ["I don't know that a live record. . . What we do, a lot of what we do is about being there, y'know? Which is why we haven't done much television or too much of the video thing — it allows too much distance. Like, what our band is about, is about breaking down distance. And I think it's important that people — hey, they come out, they got someplace where there's a bunch of other people (laughs). And then the other thing was, a live record, a lot of times, you're doin' songs that you've done already. It's a little boring, I think to. . . probably a little boring to work on (laughs) maybe, y'know?"] SOUNDCUE (:31 OC: . . . on (laughs) maybe y'know)
