Chris Martin has revealed Coldplay's extremely successful, Music of the Spheres World Tour almost didn't happen due to a “big financial crisis”.

Referring to losses from the COVID-19 pandemic, Martin told The Sun newspaper that when touring wasn’t possible, it became financially stressful, which they hadn’t had before. They had to make some changes and get financial help that ultimately saved the tour.

He said, “This tour was about trying new things and some of them work and some don’t. We are so lucky that we can survive and sustain losses and that’s OK.”

The band is currently amid a mammoth jaunt in support of their ninth studio album.
