New Years’ Resolution Ideas and How to Achieve Them Part 2

Yesterday I talked about the common New Year’s resolution of weight loss and how to achieve it. The resolution I will talk about next is exercise and how to get in better shape in 2023.

Get in Better Shape: A common resolution year after year is to get in better shape, for some of us it has been our resolution for years. My first tip for achieving this is to get a gym membership, while there are plenty of at-home exercises that can get you in shape, top equipment like free weights, treadmills, lap pools, and an indoor track for the winter will all be at the gym depending on which one you get a membership to.

After you get a gym membership you might want to take up weight training. Unlike cardio, weight training burns calories throughout the day. It will also improve bone density, and help your metabolism. You also shouldn’t worry about getting too bulky, a common excuse for those new to weights.

It takes intense training and eating regimens to look like that picture of a bulky weight lifter in your mind. Even lifting weights 4-5 times a week won’t make you look like a bodybuilder. If you don’t know where to start many gyms have personal trainers and there are many fitness channels on YouTube to help get you started.

Another great way to get in shape is by walking, walking is a great way to get in shape and can be done by almost anyone regardless of fitness level. Start out with 10 minutes a day and work your way up from there and try to walk at least 5 days a week.

The best advice to get in shape in 2023 is to start out slow and be consistent. If you work out or do cardio so intensely you can’t move for a few days the habit probably won’t stick. Focus more on a healthy activity you can do 4-5 days a week to start that habit and then you can always add intensity from there once the habit is established.
