Day 1 of the 26th annual KNID Aggrifest is almost in the books, but the history of the radio station-produced farm show has even deeper roots.

Enidlive.com spoke with Enid Chamber of Commerce Events Coordinator Lorrie Coonrod who served as an office manager during the 1st Agrifest.

Coonrod said that the idea for the event came from an old newspaper article framed in the back of Chisholm Trail Broadcasting (owner of KNID, KCRC, and Enidlive.com) which discussed a KCRC Farm Show from before the 1950s.

Chisholm Trail Broadcasting believed it was time to bring the farm show back. “They revived the farm show that KCRC used to have years and years before,” said Coonrod.

Coonrod believes the event’s impact has been important to the community saying “Aggrifest kind of became the county fair” Coonrod went on to say “It was about seeing people you could catch up with annually”.

Day 2 of KNID Aggrifest will take place Saturday, January 14th from 9 am to 5 pm. Admission and parking are free.
