Enid Police Announce Arrest of Man After Standoff, Shots Fired

On Thursday, March 16th the Enid Police announced that they had arrested a man after a nearly 5-hour-long standoff. Police responded to reports of a man shooting in the air at the 1200 Block of E. Elm at 3:52 pm.

The man Walter Lee Hill Jr. was located after firing shots again near 12th and Cypress, after police determined the house Hill was in a nearly 5-hour standoff ensued. During the standoff, Hill fired at the police and the police returned fire.

Neither party was injured during the exchange of fire. Hill finally surrendered to police at 9:42 pm ending the standoff. He was arrested on charges of assault and battery on an officer with a deadly weapon, felony possession of a firearm, resisting arrest, and other felony warrants prior to the standoff.
