On Tuesday, March 21st the Oklahoma State Senate passed a bill that if made into law will give Oklahoma teachers substantial pay raises. Under the bill, teachers would receive an increase in their pay based on years of service.

Teachers with 0-4 years of service would receive a $3,000 raise, those with 5-9 years of experience would receive a $4,000 pay raise, teachers with 10-14 years of experience would receive a $5,000 raise, while teachers with 10-25 years of experience would receive $6,000 pay increases.

In response to the passage of the bill Oklahoma State Senator Adam Pugh R-Edmond said “This will not only boost the teacher minimum salary schedule but will also provide a pay raise to all of Oklahoma’s hardworking teachers and other instructional certified staff across-the-board to keep pace with other states,”.

The bill will now move to the house for consideration.
