Huge Weekend Ahead for OU and OSU Softball

We’ve been talking about baseball a lot over the last couple of weeks. With the high school softball season wrapping up in the next couple of weeks and the MLB regular season almost a month underway…there’s a lot to be excited for if you’re a baseball fan. But as many in the state of Oklahoma know…this is also softball season. More specifically, college softball season. And residents of Oklahoma know…Oklahoma has the best college softball in the country.

Not only are the Oklahoma Sooners the defending national champions, the #1 team in the country, and winners of 31 in a row (no, that’s not a typo)…but Oklahoma State is in the midst of a massive season where they are the #3 team in the country in the ESPN poll (39-5 overall) and are just 1 game behind the Sooners for the #1 spot in the Big 12. You know you’re doing something right when your state has 2 of the top 3 teams in the country.

This weekend is a major weekend for both schools as both have weekend series against ranked opponents. Oklahoma State has the tougher of the 2 series as they they’ll be taking on #7 Texas on the road. It was supposed to be a series that started last night but mother nature had other ideas. Last night’s game was postponed due to weather so the Cowgirls and the Longhorns will play just two games tonight and tomorrow.

For the Sooners, they’ll look to avenge their only loss of the season as they will take on #19 Baylor in Waco tonight, tomorrow, and Sunday. Baylor beat OU back in February in a non-conference matchup (don’t ask how 2 Big 12 teams playing each other is a NON-Conference matchup…I couldn’t tell you). Since then, the Sooners have rattled off 31 straight wins blowing out mainly everyone in sight. Baylor has won 9 of their last 10 so this weekend’s series promises to be a good one.

Not only are baseball fans in for a fun weekend in Oklahoma, but softball fans are as well!
