American Idol has been officially renewed for a 23rd season by ABC. The singing competition series, which first premiered in 2002, will return for another cycle after its current season concludes on May 19. “Keep the stage lights on because #IDOL will be back for another season on ABC and Stream on Hulu,” according to a post on the show’s Instagram. Katy Perry will not be returning as a judge for the next season, but Lionel Richie and Luke Bryan will, alongside host Ryan Seacrest. Perry has mentioned Jelly Roll as her choice for a replacement, but nothing has been officially announced yet. (Billboard)
