Machete star Danny Trejo believes his race led to a brawl at a 4th of July parade in Los Angeles. While riding in a vintage convertible during the parade, a water balloon was thrown at Trejo’s car. “I don’t think I would have even gotten out of the car if somebody hadn’t yelled ‘it’s acid,’” he told TMZ. “That’s when I got panicked.” One of the attackers grabbed Trejo’s chest, and in response, Trejo threw the first punch, stumbling when the attacker fought back. Trejo’s unnamed friend stated the pair were the only ones targeted and showed his bruises, saying the attackers stomped on him while on the ground. Both individuals believe their Mexican descent made them the targets. “I’m just sad that there’s still people like, from the [1950s] and 60s that still feel the same way,” Trejo said. “Because no one else was targeted.”
