Whoopi Goldberg Defends Harrison Butker’s Controversial Graduation Speech

Whoopi Goldberg defended Chiefs kicker Harrison Butker’s controversial commencement speech at Benedictine College’s graduation on The View. “He’s at a Catholic college, he’s a staunch Catholic,” she said. “These are his beliefs and he’s welcome to them. I don’t have to believe them. I don’t have to accept them.” Goldberg also drew parallels to Colin Kaepernick’s activism. “The same way we want to represent when Colin Kaepernick takes a knee, we want to give respect to people whose ideas are different than ours,” she said. The host also emphasized the importance of respecting differing opinions and expressed concern over people being fired for expressing their beliefs. (People)
