During Sabrina Carpenter’s sold-out show at New York’s Madison Square Garden on Sunday (September 29), the pop superstar couldn’t resist taking a comedic shot at the city’s disgraced mayor, Eric Adams. “What should we talk about… how I got the mayor indicted?” Carpenter joked from the stage. Her convoluted involvement in Mayor Adams current scandal dates back to the filming of Carpenter’s controversial “Feather” video in a Williamsburgh church. The production team was given permission to film there, in order to “strengthen the bonds between the young creative artists who make up a large part of this community and the parish,” according to church administrator Jamie Gigantiello. That decision led the Brooklyn Diocese to relieve Gigantiello of his duties at the church, while his flashy lifestyle and penchant for luxury goods caused him to be investigated. Gigantiello’s close friendship with Eric Adams eventually led to the mayor’s own financial history being scrutinized, which brought on Adams’ indictment. No matter how this plays out, Sabrina Carpenter got the last laugh at MSG. (People)
