It was announced earlier this week that Champion Gym in Enid would be repurposed into a City of Enid Employee Fitness Center.

This change will force Champion Gym to no longer be available for rent; however, the city will still offer other facilities for community events. The pool and athletic fields will be available during their respective seasons and the pavilions are open for year-round bookings. For information on other potentials meeting venues, you can go to visitenid.org and go to the meetings tab.

This change is a part of the City of Enid’s commitment to “supporting employee health and well-being while making full use of city facilities”.

“Champion Gym will now support employee wellness,” said Jerald Gilbert, City Manager of Enid. “Which ultimately enhances the quality of service we provide to the community.”

Finally, the City of Enid has reassured the public that the annual “Haunted Gym” event that is held at Champion Gym each year will continue to be held.

For any further questions about the repurposing, you can contact the City of Enid Parks and Recreation Department by calling 580-616-7314 or 580-616-7316.
