The Enid Parks and Recreation is hosting its annual Cardboard & Duct Tape Boat Race.
The race will happen at Champlin Pool on Saturday, June 28 from 6-8 p.m.
The following are the rules for the boat race:
- Boats must be made before the race
- The entire boat must be built from cardboard and duct tape (no wood, blue, or sealants of any kind)
- Paddles are allowed, but must be made out of cardboard and duct tape
- Boats must be completely enclosed to permit the crew to remain fully on top of the vessel
Teams should consist of four people. The boats will race the width of the pool with two members, then the other two will race back.
All ages are welcome to participate. Participants 9 and younger must have an adult in the boat with them, and participants 12 and younger must have adult supervision.
Awards will be given out for boats that meet the criteria:
- Titanic Award
- For the boat that sinks in the most spectacular fashion
- Spirit Award
- For the team that had the most fun
- Best Design
- For the team with the most creative boat
- Champion Award
- For the team that completes the race the fastest
