Woodring Wall of Honor Executive Director Elaine Johns received the Major General Douglas O. Dollar Distinguished Public Service Award and was inducted into the Oklahoma Military Hall of Fame on Saturday, Oct. 26.

Elaine D. Johns was born in Edinburgh, Scotland in 1957 and moved to the United States at age 5 when adopted by an American family. John’s graduated from Hennessey High School in 1975, joined the Drummond School Board and served the community for 12 years.
In 1990, Johns worked at Enid Airport’s Northwest Aero Services. Eventually, Johns purchased the organization and transformed it into the Woodring Wall of Honor and Veterans Park, transforming it into an 80% replica of the Vietnam Memorial Wall which is now recognized as Oklahoma’s official Vietnam War memorial.
