In this interview, CTB Sports Director Derek Darr sat down with Chief Currier, Lane, Ryan, and Kurt from the Enid Fire Department to talk about the upcoming 4th Annual KNID Guns N Hoses Charity Softball game.

Chief Currier started by answering the question of how the FD feels about their chances against the cops before going on about their excitement for the event.

“Yeah, we are. The guys always enjoy going and playing these games, and it’s a lot of fun. And you get a chance to get out there and be a part of the ceremonies. The JUCO World Series is always a big deal for this down, and we really appreciate the opportunity to get to be involved in it, and go out there and play a game with the cops…They’re like our brothers, you know? You like each other, love each other, take care of each other, but you also like to beat each other up every once in a while, so it’s our opportunity to go pick on [your] brother.”

The chief highlights the compassionate efforts of the Oklahoma Firefighter Burn Camp, where firefighters support and care for children affected by fire, fostering a community where former campers often return as sponsors to give back.

“In our job, we deal with all kinds of people in their worst of times, and nobody likes to see kids hurt, injured, displaced from their homes; things like that. The Oklahoma Firefighter Burn Camp is a group of people that really focus on kids that have been affected by fire one way or another, and they grow and continue to go to the camp, so a lot of them aren’t kids anymore, but they’re still out there joining, participating in the camp, and a lot of them are sponsors now. But it’s a chance for firefighters to go and help kids out, spend time, and let them know they’re appreciated, loved, and cared for.”
