The Enid Parks and Recreation Dept. is hosting the 2024 Cardboard and Duct Tape Boat Race on Saturday, June 29.
The race will take place at the Champlin Pool from 6-8 p.m. and feature plenty of competitive spirit.
Teams of four have to build their boat before the race and it must be made entirely out of cardboard and duct tape. Boats may have a maximum width of 60 in [5 ft] and a maximum length of 84 in [7 ft]. Only two people are allowed in the boat, and live vests are encouraged.
All ages are welcome to join, but participants nine years old and younger must have an adult accompany them in the boat. Participants 12 and younger must have adult supervision.
Awards will be given out at the event:
- Titanic Award
- Goes to the boat that sinks in the most spectacular fashion
- Spirit Award
- Goes to the team who had the most fun
- Best Design Award
- Goes to the team with the most creative boat
- Champion Award
- Goes to the team that completes the race the fastest
