The Enid Police Department has opened an investigation into a potential homicide case following reported gunshots and one death in the 900 block of East Maple Ave.
EPD officers were dispatched to the area after several calls reported gunfire at roughly 10:40 p.m. on Thursday. Officers found one person deceased in a backyard, appearing as if they had been shot.
EPD Capt. Tim Jacobi has stated that it is too early in the investigation to release the name and age of the victim. Furthermore, the EPD does not believe there is a sustained risk to the public, but makes it clear that they do not believe this is a random incident, as they believe there were three different locations in the area where a gun was fired.
We will update this story as the investigation proceeds.
