The Enid Public Library is set to host a kickoff party on Friday, Sept. 6 in honor of its new partnership with Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library.
The event will celebrate the start of a new book-gifting program designed to promote early childhood literacy and support families in the Garfield County area.
“[We are] thrilled to be able to partner with the Friends of the Library of Enid to sponsor the Dolly Parton Imagination Library in Garfield County,” Library Director Theri Ray said. “I love that every child under the age of five is eligible for this program. There are no restrictions! We know that having access to books directly correlates to future success. We want all the children of Garfield County to have every chance at success. “
The kickoff party will feature family-friendly activities such as a lip-syncing contest, photo booth, Dolly Parton-themed treats, gift basket raffle, and a visit from Buckaroo Bart from the Will Rogers Memorial Museum.
Since its launch in 1995, Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library has become the foremost early childhood book-gifting program in the world. Each child enrolled in the program receives one book monthly from birth to age five at no cost to families.
