The Enid Walk of Fame Ceremony, set for Saturday, Sept. 14 at 9 a.m., will honor April Danahy and Lavonn Meier McKnight.
The ceremony will take place in Grand Ballroom C at the Stride Bank Center.
The Enid Walk of Fame award is given by the Mayor on behalf of the City Commission during the Cherokee Strip Days celebration. The award is given to individuals who have demonstrated a lifetime of service to the community, have made an extraordinary contribution or have performed an act of selflessness or statesmanship for Enid.
April Danahy, the living recipient of the award, is an award-winning broadcaster,a community advocate, and is now the senior vice president at Security National Bank. While serving on the Greater Enid Chamber of Commerce, she created the community’s Shop Enid Candy Cane Cash and Enid Day.
Lavonn Meier McKnight, the posthumous recipient, was known in the community as a psychometrist, educator, and tireless volunteer. McKnight was also the first director of Enid Lights Up the Plains for Main Street Enid.
