The Woodring Wall of Honor is co-hosting the Flame of Remembrance Ceremony as a part of the opening ceremony for the NJCAA Division II Baseball World Series.

Beginning at 6:30 p.m. at David Allen Memorial Ballpark, the ceremony will pay tribute to veterans and active duty military personnel. The nephew of Medal of Honor recipient Harold Kiner will light a symbolic flame that will be carried around the bases by a diverse group of veterans. These veterans include those from World War II, the Korean War, the Vietnam War and active-duty members.

CMSgt Harvey McReynolds will be at home plate, joined by 102-year-old WWII POW RD Lawrence to lift the flame together. The ceremony will conclude as a Blue Star Mother extinguishes the flame, symbolizing remembrance and gratitude.
