Kites over Enid was an event held in 2009 and 2010 at a large field behind Autry Technology Center, aiming to set a world record for the number of kites flown simultaneously. In 2009, Enid set a North American record with 2,598 kites in the air, but did not achieve the world record. The 2010 event had 2,439 kites, again falling short of the world record. The 2009 achievement of 2,598 kites remains the North American record.
