The Okeene Oil Co. service station has been updated in the National Register of Historic Places to reflect the buildings correct historical name.
The station, which is currently owned by the Okeene Historic Preservation Group, currently operates as a welcome center, community center and a retail store selling Made in Oklahoma products.
The station’s listing in the register provides it recognition, limited protection and financial incentives in some cases. The State Historic Preservation Office is in charge of determining which locations receive this honorific designation.
