Freezing pipes can be destructive to your homes and more so your wallet.
The City of Enid put out a video to aid Enid residents in preventing your pipes from freezing.
- Remove hoses from outside faucets
- Make sure the faucet is completely turned off; insulated faucet covers are recommended.
- Insulate any pipes in unheated spaces
- This applies to any exterior pipes outside your home
- Keep your home at a reasonable temperature
- This will prevent pipes inside your home from freezing; leave cabinet doors beneath your sink open
- During extreme cold, let your faucets drip
- The constant dribble of water will prevent ice from building up
- Shut off water service to vacant houses
- No water means no chance of pipes freezing
- If your pipes freeze, call a professional
- It is recommended that you contact plumber to repair your pipes
- Do not remove meter lids
- Exposing the water underneath to the cold weather will cause freezing pipes
