CTB Sports Director Derek Darr sat down with Sgt. Tyler Evans with the Enid Police Department and Lydia Kelley, the Executive Director of Loaves and Fishes, to talk about raising $400 for Loaves and Fishes during KNID Guns N Hoses.
Kelley expressed her gratitude for receiving the donation and for working with the EPD to help the community.
“We’re very grateful. We always think it’s wonderful to have agencies supporting agencies, especially if it’s somebody like the EPD who’s doing so much for our community, and we love that they support our mission and are working for us and with us.”
Kelley expanded on the mission of Loaves & Fishes and what they do.
“We’re what’s called a client-choice food pantry. We’re set up like a small grocery store, and clients can come in and choose foods [to] take home. We have fresh produce, fresh meat, bread, eggs, butter, [and] dairy items. It’s a really great option for clients who may be feeling a little food insecure. We serve some or all of 10 counties. Garfield County is where most of our clients come from, and our mission is fighting hunger, feeding hope, and we’re just trying to do that. We’re open five days a week and hopefully getting the people what they need.”
