1927 - 2025
Janice Wheatley Dosier, age 98, passed away Friday, March 21, 2025 at her home, Baptist Village of Enid.
She was born in Ranger, Texas on February 21, 1927, to John L. and Mary Henry Wheatley.
Jan enjoyed living in Texas and loved going to the oil field with her father. In June 2009, Jan and her husband Price moved to Enid from Bowie, Texas where they had lived for 32 years.
They celebrated their sixty-fifth wedding anniversary before he passed away in 2010. The best wedding story the grandkids always loved hearing was "Don't do what Janice did." Janice married Price without letting her parents know she was getting married. She also wore a black wedding dress. Her response always was, "We were just so in love."
Jan helped Price at their CPA firm and she truly enjoyed working hand in hand with him. She was pretty amazing in that she could type over 75 words a minute with only 3 mistakes on the old manual typewriters.
Moving to Enid was a great decision for Jan. You could find her playing cards, decorating, being on the activities board, and helping at the chapel. She always wanted to be busy and she enjoyed making friends.
Jan had many hobbies that she excelled at. She loved painting and she filled her home with a lot of beautiful artwork throughout her life. Also, she had a knack for making some sweet homemade cards for friends and family.
Jan loved Jesus, her family, and her friends. You could never leave her home or have a phone call with her that didn't end with "Bless your heart." She always meant it lovingly. The last few years, we were told more than enough times how wonderful we were and how beautiful we are.
If there is one thing we could take away from her, it's to acknowledge the people around us and realize how important they are to us.
Jan is survived by her daughter Cheryl Newell and husband, Richard of Vernon, Texas.
Her granddaughter, Marci Hyde of Burlington, OK, her grandson, Jason Watkins and wife, Sheila of Enid. Her great-grandchildren, Kelsey Inman (Taylor), Kalley Hurt (Chaz), Kolton Watkins (Lauren), Bayli Hyde, and great-great grandchild, Everett Hurt.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her loving husband, her son Trip (Herschel), her sisters-Catherine Monahan and Maxine Rose, her brother Harry, and grandson Robert Hyde.
The world was blessed with Janice Wheatley Dosier. She was kind, she was a blessing, and she taught everyone to be better.
A Celebration of Jan’s life will be held at a late date. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Anderson-Burris Funeral Home and Crematory.
